The Briarcliff Friends of the Arts is a member organization with two specific goals: volunteerism and fundraising.
Volunteerism: BFA members work behind the scenes at many of the district’s arts programs, including theatrical productions in all three schools, dance concerts, and the annual BHS Art Show. Other members volunteer by acting as chaperones, spearheaded student fundraising activities or by supplying baked goods and beverages at community arts events.
Fundraising: The BFA raises funds to support and enhance all arts programs within the Briarcliff Manor School District. To date, the BFA has provided grants in excess of $120,000 dollars since it began in 2003. Some tangible examples of our contributions to the district include purchasing, maintaining and repairing instruments for all district schools, sound systems & lighting in all district auditoriums, SMARTboards, funding for student productions at all 3 district schools, numerous assemblies to expose our students to dance, music and theatrical productions, The New York State Education Association Conference, which our High School drama students attend.
The goal of the BFA is to promote and enhance opportunities in all disciplines of the arts for the students in our school district. We accomplish these goals by providing volunteers and financial support to teachers who wish to integrate arts based programs into their academic curriculum. The district offers a broad range of arts opportunities including: music, theater, dance, fine arts, photography, film and the technical arts.
